Affect on SEO 

Hi Engage Team,

I noticed your Rotator module in use on PowerDNN.com and thought I could possible use it on PokerDIY.com. Have a look at my homepage, I have those 3 main boxes on the front - I am thinking of replacing these with the Rotator and doing more of a tour on the homepage...

My questions are -

  1. What effect does it have on SEO - is the content in each tab on the clicent hidden in a div or something? My biggest concern is that the hidden content would not be indexed by spiders..
  2. How much page-bloat does the module add? I need my homepage to be quick-loading and small as possible...
  3. Are there more templates available? I like the Engage one and the one on PowerDNN.

  1. The content is placed in a hidden when it is not being displayed.  I'm honestly not sure how that effects SEO.  In the next version of Rotator that's in the works right now, it looks like the content will be hidden client side, so this shouldn't be an issue.
  2. The current version uses ASP.NET AJAX animations, which adds 50K or so of script (assuming ASP.NET AJAX .  We'll be migrating to jQuery in the next version, which'll come out to about 70K of script.  I don't consider that to be significant bloat, but you can determine that for yourself.
  3. To see the templates that come with the current version, check out our demo site (login with demoadmin/demoadmin).  We're redoing the template system in the new version, so we expect to provide a more complete selection of templates with the release.
