Membership Provider

Hi,

I have questions regarding membership provider, i have downloaded the source code that HK has published on the website, however I have some questions and confused over certain things:

1. I looked through the source codes, but I'm thinking, since I need to reference it to an existing database. I should "Call" or indicate the database name so it will know where it reference to?

2. I have already done up my project, now it's just short of the login module. How can I go about to insert in the login module ( as in do I add new item? or do i open up VS05 and create a new class, etc? ) so that it can retrieve information from my existing database and thus make my project a nice finishing..

Really appreciate your help, thank you so much!

Re: Membership Provider

Hi Germaine,

The source code from here: http://www.engagesoftware.com/Blog/EntryID/164.aspx uses a web service to authenticate users (as well as other membership related functions). Your web service can call any database it can access.

As far as a new login control. Unless you want to add additional features to the login control(and your membershp provider implementation) there isn’t a need to create a new login control. The default DNN control should suffice.

Hope this helps,
