What version of DNN are you using?

So with the latest releases of DNN we have a quick question to try to guage what people are running our modules on.

We currently compile all of our modules against DNN 4.5.1, to maintain a large support footprint for the number of versions that the modules will run on. There are some changes in later versions of DNN that we would like to start using. In Publish the first thing would be the token support that DNN provides in the 4.6.+ versions.

What version of DNN are you running Publish on?

When a new version of DNN comes out do you upgrade immediately?

We're trying to gauge the best time to drop support for older versions and get the ability to have better functionality within our modules. I am excited about the Jquery support inside of DNN5 that we can start to do some cool things with in Publish if we decide to move that far forward.

Re: What version of DNN are you using?

I'm at 4.9.1 and assume that I will be upgrading to 4.9.2 when that becomes available.

Somewhat on that topic, I'm anticipating upgrading my ActiveForums installation to 04.01.07 now that it has the ForumViewer available.  I plan to do this on a site in which we use ActiveForums for comments.  So, my question is ... which version of Publish should I use with DotNetNuke 4.9.1 and ActiveModules 04.01.07?

Re: What version of DNN are you using?

Currently 4.9.1

Upgraded yesterday to 4.9.1 after first testing it on a development server.

Not upgrading to DNN 5 for at least 6 months, DNN community generally seems to move slower than the other open source apps and that includes modules too. So we expect to see any major issues around DNN 5 sorted out by mid '09.

Re: What version of DNN are you using?

I use 4.9.1.

I typically upgrade:

  • minor/point releases after they've been out for a couple of days and there are no glaring issues reported.
  • For more major releases (i.e. 4.8, 4.9) I usually wait longer (several weeks or more)

Compatibility with other modules is important; I have to wait until all primary modules support latest release before upgrading.

Joe, to answer your question about DNN, Publish and ActiveForums.  Publish 5.3.1 is the version you want.

Re: What version of DNN are you using?

I am running DNN 4.9.1

After testing a copy of my site in a dev environment of course...
I typically upgrade minor releases within a week of release.
I typically upgrade Major releases as soon as I can determine all my important modules are compatible and no issues arise from testing.

The time is now to drop support for older versions of Dotnetnuke :) We are ready to have better functionality within Engage Modules.
Personally, I would even love to see jQuery added to Engage Publish even before DNN 5.
