Well today was a fun day for the first day of OpenForce07. At noon we had a core team gathering over at the Luxor. It was an excellent time for everyone to socialize and meet face to face, many for the first time. I can't even begin to list off all the names of people I met for the first time today but it was a great event. Many thanks to Michael Washington for organizing it and Will M. from Activemodules.com for sponsoring it. The discussions we all got to have were great and I look forward to continuing many of them throughout the week!

I'm personally excited to announce that the 4.4 release of Engage: Publish has been uploaded to our EngageModules.com website and is available for purchase. If you've previously purchased Engage: Publish and are within your one year window you can also download this release for free.

The biggest feature for 4.4 is the implementation of Caching within the module which should help to speed up sites that utilize Engage: Publish and minimize the number of database requests for each page load. So I had hoped to have the 4.3.7 release of Engage: Publish out last week, but towards the end of the week a few things came up in the code that we decided needed to be handled prior to a release. A few of the items were small bugs that had popped up in some new testing we were doing. One of the major things was performance issues that were starting to pop up.

As more and more people start using Engage: Publish we've started to see some performance items we'd like to implement within the code in order to speed up the sites that are using Publish. Beginning on Monday Brian Dukes and I started taking a good hard look at Caching within the module. As for Friday afternoon the code has been added into Publish that will allow an administrator to setup a default Cache time for all Publish content, and then be able to override that setting on a module by module basis if necessary.

If our blog gets really inactive after tomorrow it's because 9 of us are heading to Tornado Country (though we really are already in it).

We're off to Tulsa Tech Fest, leaving this afternoon and tonight. It looks like the Tornados have already moved through, though they've caused some damage to Oktoberfest according to this article on CNN.

DotNetNuke 4.6.2 was released today! You can get it from www.dotnetnuke.com

You can see what was fixed in 4.6.1 which was released last week with the link below. I believe, and this is unofficial, the 4.6.2 release contains a quick fix for ModuleSettingsBase

Download it now! I've already upgraded a few sites to 4.6.2 and will be upgrading more sites this week!

Well it's been a busy summer for me and it looks like it isn't slowing down just yet. Earlier this month I spent a week in the Washington DC area conducting some advanced DotNetNuke Module Development Training for a new client. In just over a week I'll be in Topeka Kansas for the SCCA Solo Nationals, I'm definitely looking forward to getting away from computers for a week and just enjoying racing a car or two!
