We have released a major update for Engage: Locator. In version 1.3, many new features have been added to make using the module to display your locations even better.
The most requested new features include the ability to allow users to submit comments and ratings for your locations. You can moderate these if you like, or you can turn it off if you don't need it.
Another new feature is the ability to allow and moderate locations submissions. If you allow, users can submit new locations for you to approve and include in your locations.
You now also have the ability to to add custom attributes to your locations types and set the value for each location.
You can also choose which page to display the results. This allows you to configure the module to search on one page and get the results another. (i.e. search for locations from the home page but display the results on an interior page).

Back in November 2007, I was invited to be a technical reviewer for a book called DotNetNuke Skinning Tutorial by Packt Publishing Company. Having seen limited resources about DotNetNuke skinning, I agreed to be involved in the project instantly. It was an exciting experience since I have never had any experience in working with formal documentations besides DotNetNuke training documentations I wrote here with the team.

On our DotNetNuke module demo site, we have a little selector (pictured above) in the upper right hand corner that lets you pick how wide you would like the site to appear. This is based on a similar mechanism on the DNN site. Folks have been asking about it, so feel free to register on our site and grab it for yourself (for free).

It took two years, and adding girls to the team, but we finally won a softball game! In 2006 we played in a men's rec league and managed to screw up every game just enough to lose. Well tonight was the first game of the 2008 Season and we pulled off a winner! 15-8!

After weeks of preparation, our first training offering in St. Louis is complete and I can finally relax a little bit. At Engage, we have offered on-site training for quite sometime; however, it is such a different and exciting experience for all of us for holding training classes in St. Louis.

I was tasked yesterday with adjusting a hierarchical Infragistics WebGrid (2007.2, but I don’t expect that it’s substantially different in any other recent versions) so that when a checkbox was checked in a parent row that the children rows’ checkboxes were also checked. This proved much more difficult than I expected, in part because I overlooked the client-side event that I needed to use. After struggling with trying to figure out what server side or client side event would fire after a checkbox was checked, I finally found the AfterCellUpdate client side event. There were a few other gotchas that cropped up along the way too, so I thought I’d share my final product for anyone else who might want this same behavior.
To wire up the event, you need to set the DisplayLayout.ClientSideEvents.AfterCellUpdateHandler property to the name of the JavaScript function that should handle that event (ugUnitTypes_AfterCellUpdate in my case). If this isn’t exactly what you need, the WebGrid CSOM topic...

Many times I have been asked the same question by various clients regarding the DotNetNuke CSS load order. Many of them were having difficulties when customizing their modules and skins to have uniform styles. Simply understanding the DotNetNuke CSS hierarchy is essential when performing these tasks.
